Nadir

It is Day 14 since the beginning of consolidation therapy and Gloria's white cells have hit bottom (i.e. the nadir). Fortunately so far we have been fever-free, rash-free, and nausea-free (we are also diarrhea-free but mom said we couldn't use that word - too bad she's got chemo-brain and can't stop us). Hopefully we will remain infection free and get through this time comfortably. We are currently in the Kettering Medical Center where Mom is receiving a platelet infusion. Her platelet count dropped along with the neutrophils and she has a few bruises to show off. We will probably be back for blood sometime during the next week.

We have been enjoying the beautiful late summer days, watching the turtles basking themselves in the midday sun on the banks of the pond and catching glimpses of the few remaining fireflies in the evening. Team Gloria are keeping up with cooking and cleaning (Mom has been telling us that we make good mommies) and are also managing to get out and have some fun.

Once again we want to thank everyone for your good wishes, love and support. We cannot express how grateful we all are and how blessed we feel.

Lots of love,

Rebecca, Karen, Sidney, and Gloria

  1. More great news, although we are suspicious about Sid's ability to be a good mommy.

  2. Gloria, it was so nice to receive your note today. You don't know how much it meant to hear from you. We successfully launched semesters and you should be proud of all you did in the conversion process. Your service at SCC has made a tremendous difference in the lives of the students we serve. You're my hero!

    Love, dave

  3. Hang in there, Gloria! All those "free" statements are a huge blessing! As Dave said, you're his hero...but you're a hero to all of us.....no pressure! :) Just know that we all love and think of you daily and, in each of our own ways, cheer you on! To Team Gloria: thank you!!!! and please know we are here for you too! With much love as always....

  4. Gloria: Was reading and responding to emails and started thinking of you, so I took a break from that. Glad to see the new post, and am looking forward to word that the nadir ended as it should and everything continues to be "free" as things head upward.

All my love to you and to the wonderful family who make up Team Gloria. We all appreciate you so very much.

  7. Good News, everyone!

We hear the New Orleans levee is finally fixed properly. Worry no more about whether the Army Corp of Engineers and the federal government will get it right this time. Our own local boys, Boudreaux and Thibodeaux have solved the problem.

What did they do the feds couldn't do? Well, we all know that Boudreaux and Thibodeaux are well known for how smart they are. They fixed the levee by erecting a hurricane fence!

Thanks, y'all, we all feel so much safer now...

    Thanks again for the update!

  10. Good morning, Gloria! Well, it's another beautiful day and once again I'm checking in with you. I actually do this daily although I don't always leave a note... :) Michael is back after being on the road for a week. The kitties are so happy since they didn't get any treats from me while he was gone. Guess you'll need to pay them a visit next time he's gone! :) Much love from all of us...including the super spoiled four-legged children!
